DuPont Renaissance Center
WILMINGTON, DE
LEED Gold Certified
DuPont set out to develop a new state-of-the-art, high-density master plan, dubbed "Project Renaissance" for their Chestnut Run Campus outside of Wilmington, Delaware. Their vision was to: "Provide new DuPont Chestnut Run competitive workplaces that enable an innovative, sustainable science company to WIN in the 21st Century." Challenged to create an environment that physically and metaphorically embodies DuPont's corporate vision, the entire site is bisected by a long, sinuous pedestrian path that the team embraced as the "Walk in the Park". This path became the vehicle to integrate the new buildings with the existing campus fabric, create a walking campus environment and dissolve the barrier between exterior and interior spaces, while creating a series of intimate and contemplative landscaped outdoor spaces.
The two office buildings house over 2,000 people in 550,000 SF (51,100 SM). DuPont desired a workplace that functioned as a social hub, fostered innovation and collaboration, responded to organizational demographics that spoke to a multi-generational population, while being sensitive to the environment. The floor plan is organized into neighborhoods for each business unit, separated by shared meeting and commons spaces. In support of this office component, there are large and diverse assembly areas with the main lobby serving as the connector between the coffee bar, conference center and breakout area. The dining area, servery, outdoor dining patio and a nearby pavilion for company wide events further reinforce DuPont's commitment to their community.
Campbell's Employee Center
CAMDEN, NJ
LEED Gold Certified
Reinventing the workplace to support innovation and changing business dynamics.
In Campbell’s efforts to showcase innovation and provide a workplace for the future, we designed a new employee center with amenities that has become the hub of the campus. As part of the project, we created a new workplace strategy which included benchmarking studies, employee surveys and stakeholder interviews to shape the work environment. The Employee Center received LEED Certification, making the structure and its construction energy efficient and ecologically friendly. It incorporates energy efficient HVAC, water conservation, recycled building materials and daylight harvesting. This recognition of the environment reinforces the principles, beliefs and promises of the Campbell Soup Company, while rendering it a steward of sustainable design.
BASF Project Nexus
WYANDOTTE, MI
At BASF, chemistry is created to improve how we interact with each other and the world around us. Imagine a building that blends with the masonry tradition of the historic architecture of the site and Biddle Avenue and simultaneously evokes an eye toward the future. The architecture of Project Nexus establishes the gateway aspect of the building to the site and of BASF to the City of Wyandotte. It is more than a representation of the brand, it tells the story of BASF and the creation of chemistry transforming lives.
The building is a place that will attract and retain top intellectual talent and inspire those who work within it. Upon entering, one experiences a place like no other. Our design creates a collaborative, innovative atmosphere through a variety of workplace settings. A light-filled workplace with collaboration spaces, dramatic hubs, huddle spaces and research areas all project a sense of openness and clarity, integral to BASF's commitment to promoting exploration and creation through chemistry. There are also spaces for individual contemplation and work. The environment balances practical, efficient and flexible interior planning with features that inspire users and provide long-term value. To project the BASF brand as a showcase of "Science on Display," views within and to the outside through glass walls create a safe, pleasant work environment while enhancing collaboration and community. The needs of highly specialized laboratory spaces with precise technical requirements will be combined with the need for workspaces that function well for everyone. To embolden the overall success of the facility, the pilot plant will include groundbreaking characteristics in process technology with unprecedented features derived from our knowledge of space utilization trends, facility/operating benchmarks and innovations driving efficient work flows.
Imagine an open, light-filled building unique to its surroundings, creating dynamic and vibrant spaces that inspire excitement, foster innovation, soothe the spirit and build community. The immersion of researchers in real spaces create memorable, sensory experiences and weave aspirations with your brand's values and promise can only be summed up as "wow".
Wyandotte Creation Center
WYANDOTTE, MI
The Wyandotte Creation Center is a place dedicated to innovation and creation. Visitors are welcomed by translucent and colorful panels at the entrance, providing a clear sense of arrival. These panels are made of prismatic polycarbonate, designed to enhance visual appeal and focus on the center's purpose: creating chemistry.
As one moves along the panels, they unfold in a sequence, guiding visitors parallel to the Detroit River. The view to the south is screened, while to the left, a hill rises behind a row of trees and to the right, an earthen walkway runs along the river's edge. Viewing platforms extend into the water, where people are gathered and engaged in various activities.
The journey continues with observations of bands of wildflowers, which are harmoniously patterned to create a natural connection and set an expectation for something special. A structure emerges, leveraging its design to integrate with the surrounding landscape and direct energy towards the river. The building features large, framed apertures that provide views of the river.
As one progresses, the building's design becomes more prominent, extending east towards the Canadian shoreline. Inside and outside the building, people are gathered in connected spaces, collaborating and engaging in activities that aim to drive innovation. The building's interior is designed as a large, shallow tunnel structure, divided into sections with amplified light.
Further south, the tallest section of the building appears, facing northeast up the river. The experience is one of serenity and beauty. Within the building, dynamic exhibits of creativity are displayed in a two-story space, where people interact, engage, learn and create. The connection to the center is reminiscent of experiences at BASF. The Wyandotte Creation Center is designed to foster creativity, connection and reinvention for a better world.
