Workplace

Financial Services Client, Westlake 2A+2B

WESTLAKE, TX, USA

The 85,000 sq. ft. workspace renovation re-imagines the employee experience, focusing on flexibility, human interaction, agility, and wellness.

Spanning two wings on the 2nd floor, the office space is connected by a work lounge café that welcomes employees and visitors upon arrival.

Bathed in natural light and biophilic elements, the inviting environment celebrates community-building and social interaction. It offers amenities such as a specialty coffee bar and versatile furniture arrangements that accommodate various group sizes, from cozy two-person settings to larger lounge areas. A movable partition increases space flexibility by extending the main meeting room into the cafe area as needed.

Carefully selected design elements such as wall mosaic tiles, decorative accessories, fabric patterns, and native vegetation have been integrated to reflect unique aspects of the local culture. Functionality is prioritized, with diverse settings, careful acoustic planning, integrated technology, and green elements to enhance employee performance and engagement.

Natural materials, vibrant colors, ergonomic furniture, and abundant access to natural light further enhance well-being.

This project sets a new standard for workplace design, emphasizing connectivity, collaboration, flexibility, and respect for the natural environment.

Spark Therapeutics

PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA

Office and Pilot Plan facilities in Philadelphia’s University City.

Jacobs continued to perpetuate the design aesthetic developed at the Bulletin Building in two of Spark’s other tenant space in University City. The first was a small 25,000 SF office space and the other being their 50,000 SF pilot plant and supporting work space. The client wanted both spaces to embodie the Spark brand and provide the same quality of space that was delivered at the Bulleting Building. Both spaces are in very modern high rise buildings which differed from the R&D facility, but thorugh the use of similar materials, open ceilngs and the lively color palette Jacobs was able to meet the clients objective.

New Ways of Working

10+ GLOBAL LOCATIONS

An employee focused Global program to elevate experience by aligning culture, place and tools by Jacobs for Jacobs.

We rethought, reorganized and redefined how technologies, tools, work processes support physical space. We embedded flexibility into the workforce, elevated our talent’s experience and provided value to the balance sheet.

Doing more with less and creating real long-term value. In one example, the business program requirements were accommodated in 3 floors versus the 8 floors that would have been leased using the old approach to real estate.

To date 10+ locations globally have been delivered.

The space provides a work environment with an emphasis on user choice and flexibility. Riverside views are maximized in flexible work and collaborative spaces for both visitors and employees alike.

Large sliding glazed panels allow the Riverside space to enhance learning, social, and a range of work functions.

Story-telling, brand messaging is integrated throughout the space from large wall infographics, through an interactive history wall that tells our 75 year journey, to the coffee mugs and cushions.

Financial Services Client, Executive Suite

BOSTON, MA, USA

Transformation of a senior leadership area into its headquarters’ center of gravity.

The goal was to accelerate ongoing cultural evolution through the leadership example and cross-functional pollination of innovative business ideas. The team accomplished this thanks to transparency and improved connectivity within the space.

Real estate evaluations identified a range of opportunities to reconsider the purpose of the existing space that now provides a diverse range of functions, including a work cafe hub, incubator work space, executive assistant work area, and existing executive office space. There is a variety of space typologies to suit open, enclosed, and semi-enclosed modes of work for individuals and groups.

The design prioritizes the integration of flexible solutions to ensure the adaptable environment based on performance and cultural measures. As a result, our team achieved significant flexibility and construction advantages by enabling the space to adapt and evolve in the short and long term.
