The Rio 2016 Organising Committee engaged Jacobs at a later stage in the delivery program to act as Infrastructure Integrator. This required cross-cutting collaboration across all three levels of government as a neutral party to overcome the limitations of the governance model. We established a connection between the client, handling overlay installation and Games operations, and governmental agencies.

Additionally, we were responsible for creating reporting mechanisms to oversee and communicate the advancement of 300 venue and infrastructure initiatives.

Implementation of industry-leading project controls to ensure on-time delivery of 12 venues and warm-up areas which met strict International Olympic Committee and International Sports Federation standards.

Jacobs was responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of the infrastructure, competition venues and non competition venues across the 237-hectare park and for a number of existing venues across the city.

ANZ Stadium

SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA

The 118,000-seat ANZ Stadium (formerly Stadium Australia) was the focal point for the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was also recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the “best Olympic Stadium”.

Our team was also involved with the $70 million reconfiguration of the stadium after the Olympics from athletics to a traditional football arrangement. This involved the removal of the temporary end stands and construction of permanent seating to 83,500 seats and end roofs. Our team has remained involved with ongoing maintenance and refurbishment projects at the stadium over the past 15 years.
