January

The start of a new calendar year for our employees...

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

We were selected by the Sharqia Development Authority (SDA) to deliver a study about developing the Mohammed Bin Salman Coastal Corridor, Saudi Arabia.

The global Focus 2023 strategy launched, setting the blueprint for the next stage of our business transformation.

Chinese New Year celebrations began across Asia, with many across the globe joining celebrations.

INCLUSION

International Women’s Day celebrated highlighting how employees #choosetochallenge gender inequality.

The Australian Workplace Equality Index survey was launched to assess LGBTI inclusion.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

The ANZ team helped developing nations access clean energy with the east African geothermal project. We took on a digital solution project for Tasmania Roads, and we secured the Contact Energy Tauhara Geothermal Steamfield detailed design project.

In the Middle East, we were chosen to deliver the Saudi NEOM International Airport Traffic Forecasting Studies project, and we won the Engineering Consultancy Services contract at Jeddah Islamic Port.

STRATEGY

The Asia region launched its strategy to drive transformational growth in the region.

April

HIGHLIGHT

We listened - in April we launched action plans globally in response to the global culture survey 'Have your voice heard'.

Continuing a strong delivery across the entire region.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

In Asia, our strong relationship with Public Utilities Board (PUB) continued, with a project to help deliver clean water for Singapore, while in Malaysia a transport planning consultant role for the Penang South Reclamation was secured.

In ANZ, our long-standing relationship with our client, Health Infrastructure, continued with the St George’s hospital win; and we secured a significant transport project Sydney West Metro Project - Stage 2.

In the Middle East we continued our partnership with NEOM's water team to deliver NEOM Water Strategic Technical Service Framework.

EMPLOYEE NETWORKS

Asia inclusion Council appointed Co-Chairs and chapter leads for all three of Asia’s focused JENs: Jacobs Careers Network, Jacobs Women’s Network as well as OneWorld.

INCLUSION

In Saudi Arabia, two employees from JASARA were selected by Saudi Aramco to join the Gulf Region Organization for Women (GROW) committee to support womens careers.

CLIMATE ACTION

Jacobs celebrated Earth Day themed: "Restore our Earth." On the same day, we celebrated a year since we launched our Climate Action Plan.

HIGHLIGHT

Jacobs global community responded to India Covid crisis raising over US$149,000 for disaster relief.

INCLUSION

Everyday Respect gender equality campaign launched across ANZ to embed greater inclusive language and behaviour. National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week celebrated across Australia.

MENTAL WELLBEING

Singapore hosted Mental Health Matters program with clients and employees.

FUNDRAISING / COVID RESPONSE

Jacobs community raised over US$149,000 for India during the spike of cases of COVID-19 via Disaster Relief with Jacobs matching donations.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

In ANZ & Asia, we partnered with Hunter Water to help deliver their water strategy, and our Sydney & India teams collaborated on a project with School Infrastructure, NSW.

In ANZ, work continued on the Manuwarra Red Dog Highway project. We secured an industry partner role with Australia Government Department of Defence and won a project with Australia's Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANTSO) to safely manage radioactive waste.

Jacobs employees around the globe marked Ramadan and subsequent Eid al-Fitr festival.

BEYOND ZERO AWARDS

Asia Pacific & Middle East region had 29 winners announced.


MENTAL HEALTH

Jacobs named as Finalists in Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards 2021 for One Million Lives.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

In Asia, success on South East Asia’s first high-speed rail project; Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail (HSR), plus a win in the Philippines at Muja Power station.

In ANZ, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) strategy project secured for the Kennedy Highway, Queensland. Detailed design work for Transpower in New Zealand also continued with GID delivery.

In Morocco, we leveraged Australian coastal and marine specialists to secure the Kasbah Development project Feasibility Study, and in Saudi, a master plan role was won for the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) for the historic Diriyah site.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

In the Middle East, Deep Dive Dubai opened to the public.

In ANZ coastal hazards work continued with Environment Canterbury in South Island New Zealand and the Central Interceptor Tunnel Boring Machine Hiwa-i-te-Rangi officially set off on her 14.7-kilometre-long journey under Auckland. We also secured the Port Botany Rail Link D&C project.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Jacobs hosted event Water New Zealand's Young Water Professionals.

REMUNERATION

CEO Steve Demetriou announced an additional 1% increase to base salaries for all employees across the globe.

INCLUSION & COLLECTIVELY

MyFlex – Jacobs flexibility approach launched across ANZ; flexible working for any reason.

Collectively grant raised to sponsor an assistance puppy in Australia - an initiative as part of our ACE network focus.

August

HIGHLIGHT

Keith Lawson appointed Senior Vice President & General Manager, Asia Pacific & Middle East (APME) as part of our newly merged APME business.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

In August we launched the global thought leadership paper, Beyond Carbon - A holistic approach to net zero cities.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

In ANZ, we worked with Queensland’s Mount Isa City Council on a smart water meter program, and secured a project management role for the Department of Education. We also secured the SH1 Whangarei to Port Marsden Safety Upgrade Business Case for Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.

In the Middle East, Lead Design Consultant role secured for the Red Sea Development Company to help achieve the vision for the Red Sea Airport and another win with the Saudi King Abdulaziz Port project.

In Asia, contract secured with Hong Kong Civil Engineering and Development Departmenton on landslide prevention.

INCLUSION

Employees and PRISM celebrated Wear It Purple Day across Australia and New Zealand.

GRADUATE PROGRAM

55 graduates across ANZ and 23 graduates across the ME celebrated completing the two-year Jacobs graduation program.

MENTAL HEALTH

Jacobs partnered with MATES in Construction to launch One Million Lives with construction workers, supporting mental wellness.

OPPORTUNITIES

Brisbane announced as host city for 2032 Olympic Games – Sales & Marketing exploring opportunities.

LEADERSHIP

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

In the Middle East, Water team won project to support water and wastewater projects as part of City of the New Future for NEOM.

In ANZ, design and construct contract secured for upgrade of Warringah Freeway, and the Central Tunnel package secured for Sydney Metro West. Lead designer role also secured for CSIRO on the Perth Precinct Project and Environmental services contract secured with Remondis, Australia.

In NZ we secured the Riverlink Technical Advisor Role for Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and the Water Safety Planning support contract with Far North District Council.

INCLUSION

Māori Language Week celebrated across New Zealand.

ACE: World Alzheimers month marked across the globe.

WELLBEING

Expo 2020 Dubai opened following seven years of program management to bring the site from desert to delivery.

In Asia, another win with PUB in Singapore secured at the Changi Water Reclamation Plant (CWRP) for a Greasy Waste Treatment Facility (GWTF).
